Suggest Treatment For Headache And Insomnia When Diagnosed With TIA

Hello. My name is Debbie. My husband and I have been married for 47 years.brad had a TIA last Nov. he just passed out and ended up in the hospital for 3 days. He has been found Chealation since Dec.some things have happened over last two years that was very hurtful to him. Other family problems are also a factor and the worrying if the TIA will ever happen again. He can t seem to let these go. I have seen symptoms of headaches and insomnia , always finding something to eat. Not to mention irritability and withdrawal from me. I don t know what to do for him anymore. I see him going down hill. He seems to forget things and he has always been very sharp mind. Do you know if you had a TIA once, is it more than likely it WON T happen again? I know this is probably to difficult to tackle online. Just asking. Thank you?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Regarding your specific question about TIA I am afraid no, if one has a TIA it means on the contrary he is a patient at risk for having other TIAs or stroke in the future. He'll always be a high risk patient, what medicine can do is simply lower that risk by addressing risk factors such as blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity, unhealthy lifestyle etc.
As for the other issues you mention they are not related directly to the TIA (I am assuming he has had imaging which excluded a stroke). They could be in the setting of anxiety or depression for which antidepressant treatment may be initiated after discussing it with your doctor.

I hope to have been of help.
