Suggest Treatment For Headache Due To Head Injury

Hi, my friend got in a car accident awhile back, and he hit his head pretty hard. He has been spitting up blood and when ever he lifts weights he says his head hurts. He s going to the doctors soon but could there be something seriously wrong with him?

Thank you for your question

In my opinion his headache is most likely the result of a concussion

A concussion is a brain bruise, it is not a life threatening condition, but can lead to long term affects. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, foggy thinking, etc.

I am somewhat concerned that he is spitting up blood, I would not expect that with a concussion

Some followup questions I would want to know:
1. Does he have chest pain or shortness of breath? If he does I think he should go to the emergency room to be evaluated.

I would try to get him into see a doctor as soon as possible

With the spitting up blood I would be concerned of some injury to his lungs, which could be very serious

Thank you for your question
