Suggest Treatment For Headache, Light Sensitivity And Vomiting

Do headaches and sensitivity to bright light definitely indicate a concussion. My 15 year old took an elbow to the head at basketball practice a week ago. He s had a few headaches this past week (when he rarely experiences them) and when questioned tonight admitted that overhead lights are bothering him, but not sunlight. He says the headaches are coming and going, lasting 20 minutes or so. Tonight he vomited after practice and I m concerned that perhaps he has a concussion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your son symptoms seem to be related to a migraine. I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

If the symptoms continue I recommend seeing a neurologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
