Suggest Treatment For Headache, Sore Throat And Breathing Difficulty

I have multiple symptoms from headache, swollen eyes, swollen, sore mouth & throat, chest pain, difficulty breathing, thick, yellow & green mucous. Dr said virus I had last week (clear discharges) turned into a bacterial infection (upper respiratory or bronchial & sinus). Wanted to give me z-pac, but I was afraid to take it because of having daily, stabbing pain in the liver region, weight gain & occasional heart palpitations from last time I took z-pac, over a year ago for a bite. Got Amoxicillin today, thinking it was safer. Now reading side effects & am already experiencing a lot of them before even taking! Am in pain! WHAT are safe pain relievers that will not interact with Amoxicillin? Can I take probiotics? Should I take herbals for liver support or pain relief? With Amoxicillin. Or should I have more tests done before taking Amoxicillin? Have been I ll from viral to bacterial for week & a half!!

Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this
1) Do a clinical examination by your doctor and do CBC with differential to confirm.
2) Try to gargle in warm saline solution every three hours.
3) Do take Paracetamol for pain and discuss a course of antibiotics if it is really bacterial in origin and if viral then no need of any antibiotics.
4) Regarding antibiotics which you have mentioned is also good and you can take it with probiotics.
Do follow lifestyle modifications like this
1) Try to wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, especially after using the toilet, before eating, and after sneezing or coughing. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers as an alternative to hand washing when soap and water aren't available.
2) Try to avoid sharing food, drinking glasses or utensils and cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw it away.
3) Avoid drinking fountains with your mouth and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
4) Wear a filtering mask when cleaning to avoid inhaling dust or airborne particles from cleaning products.
5) Try to avoid smoking and avoid exposure to secondhand smoke.
6) Humidify your home if the air is dry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
