Suggest Treatment For Headaches, Migraine And Fatigue

thank you. My symptoms. Had been suffering from migraines for years and finally discovered that I had Celiacs. Eliminated all gluten and nearly all dairy. Felt better initially but a year or so later started having headaches again. Discovered it was corn. Discontinued corn and short time later discovered cannot tolerate soy.......and on and on. Right now I am unable to eat most food. I have two juice drinks per day consisting mostly of fresh juice Kale, parsley, swiss chard, cucumber, carrot, green pepper, lemons celery and one apple. I juice enough for two days and add to this drink baby arugula or spinach, blueberries, flax oil, coconut oil and non GMO pea protein powder. My one meal per day consists of 4 0z of protein, a fresh salad with raw veggies and a steamed vegetable. I am now beginning to have reactions to these foods as well. Headaches, sore throat (not raw but like tonsils enlarged and painful to swallow and speak), loose stool, poor sleep, moodiness, depression, fatigue, etc. I have been to hundreds of Doctors and alternative practitioners over the past eight years and no one has been able to help. I am running out of time and things to eat. I am hungry most of the time and I do not loose any weight. If you have a suggestion it would be most welcome. Thanks Cindy Fox

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of Celiac disease. The diet you are taking is not suiting you. You are under fed, under nourished and also dehydrated. Thus you are having fatigue and headache. You are suggested to get repeat diagnostic (Endoscopy, serology) tests done to assess the inflammation and damage done to your small intestine. Get clinically examined by a GP, sometimes IBS, is confused with Celiac disease.

If you have Celiac disease, the ability of the small intestine to absorb essential nutrients gets reduced and this causes complications (malnutrition, irritability and depression, etc) later and generalized weakness. If your small intestine is much damaged the doctor may treat you with injections & intravenous fluids.

You are suggested to consult a nutritionist for a better diet charting. In the meantime, you can take rice (cooked well in water), rice in its natural form is glutein free. First you can start with small grain pudding rice cooked well in water, take small amounts. If you are able to digest & feel better, increase the amount slowly.

With rice you can take eggs( boiled eggs, poached eggs, and fried eggs made in a clean pan—are gluten-free), potatoes, vegetables. If you are fine add lentils, beans and herbs. You can even take long grain rice if you feel better. Take small amounts multiple times a day. Avoid eating anything under-cooked or raw. Cut on addictions if any. Get treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
