General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Many studies suggest that the combination of nortriptyline and citalopram is more effective than citalopram alone in the treatment of depression and anxiety. This advantage probably results from serotonin and noradrenergic reuptake inhibition.

In such syndromes, it may take between two to four weeks before nortriptyline and citalopram start to work and you begin to feel better, so it's very important that you keep taking it, even if it doesn't seem to make much difference at first.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
