Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, Recently, for the past three days, I have been experiencing heart palpations. I have been taking low dose aspirin and the symptoms will subside. However, last night they were so bad that I could not lie down. I had to sleep sitting up in the bed. I am feeling better today. Should I make an appt. with my doctor or go to the emergency room to be checked out?
Heart palpitation has become a very common symptom in the community. I don't think you need to go emergency and all. Usually, 90% cases will have acute anxiety or stress related condition rather than a true cardiac condition. So you need to understand the etiology behind your palpitation just by evaluating your present state and remove any stress in life. Do yoga, meditation, etcetera. You can get an ECG and echo done to rule out cardiac pathology.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
