Suggest Treatment For Heat Boil On The Neck

Hi there My husband had a boil on the back of his neck, which he squeezed, and now there are others forming. It is causing pain that runs from his neck right down his shoulder.. We cannot get to a hospital until tomorrow, but in the meantime, he has a prescription for amoxillin trihydrate 500 mg, left over from his dental visit. There are 10 pills. Will this, and daily poultices do the trick in getting this situation under control? And does he need to worry about the bacteria traveling into the area of his spinal column / nerves?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

For boil that is bacterial infection antibiotic orally and topically like neomycin will be beneficial.

But if it is multiple than Kindly post photo of lesion as it might be herpes zoster like infection that is having a different mode of treatment.

It's advisable to rule out diabetes also by random blood sugar estimation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
