Suggest Treatment For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

Im 47 yrs old, I ve had heavy mentrual cycle for the last five years, lasting 3 weeks and very heavy clotting. I tried the Mirena IUD and my body rejected it, tried it a second time and so far I ve had cy cycle sice June 27. Is a hysterectomy my only alternative? Had blood work for hormones levels, urine test, both ultrasounds (out and inside)

Hello,

A hysterectomy will definitely cure the problem you have and may be the best treatment in some cases (especially in women that do not plan to have any more pregnancies). On the other hand, if you would like to try other treatments, you may need a D&C to scrape the inner womb layer and have it biopsied. Sometimes, this is all the women need and the bleeding does not come back again. If the bleeding comes back or the biopsy shows important changes in biopsy then hysterectomy is necessary.
