Suggest Treatment For Heightened Sense Of Smell

I have been diagnosed with M.E about 3 years ago. Over past few months I keep smelling burnt rubber. I ve had w.machine, tumble, etc checked. My sense of smell is quite sensitive, and cannot tolerate some smells anymore but others don t seem to smell it. Any ideas? Am I mad?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of hyperosmia. I recommend checking vitamin B12 plasma levels, thyroid hormone levels, inflammation tests. A brain MRI would be helpful too. If this situation persists, I would recommend consulting with an ENT specialist and discussing about surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
