Suggest Treatment For Hematoma On The Knee

I have what i think is a hematoma on my ankle from a sprain that I sustained a few years ago. It has never gone away and now seems to be swelling even more. My foot is also getting pins and needles as tho it is falling asleep. Why is this not healing and what is causing the tingling? What should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If the hematoma is small, it will resolve by itself. Consult an orthopedist and get evaluated. An ultrasound knee is required to assess the size of the hematomax. If the size is large, aspiration with a wide bore needle might be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
