Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi.. yes, my daughter has a hematoma on her right cheek that she has had since she was 2. it had absorbed itself back into her body before they were to operate to remove it. over the years it has flared up a little and then fades back again. she is 23 now and she woke up this morning with it fairly swollen. she says it is sore and she cant open her jaw all the way without causing it pain. she took some tylenol, but is there anything else she can do to help subside the pain (i.e. ice pack or warm compress)?
Hematoma is unlikely to cause soreness once it is absorbed back. However, infection in the hematoma can lead to infection and thus pain leading to difficulty in opening mouth. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and thus management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
