Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter hs just found out she has hep c. she has hx of drug use and some drinking in past. her gall bladdr is bad and she has been advised to have it removed but has no insurance. she just got out of jail on Friday and is residing in Georgia. I have advised her to go to dept of human services and apply for Medicaid and see if there is anyway to be treated for hep c. she was being given celexa while in jail since feb 2016 for bipolar disorder and was not given rx for celexa when she left jail. she cannot take NSAIDS d/t allergic reactions in past. do you have any suggestions for her??
Applying for medicaid is a good idea. In addition she should try to find a community health center and they can provide her with primary care. Community health centers are set up to provide care for the uninsured and they may even have a way to get Hepatitis C treatment for her.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kathy Robinson, General & Family Physician
