Suggest Treatment For Hernia Above Testicles

my husband had a hernia above his testicles when he was younger and we have been trying to get pregnant could that have made him sterile or might it be something else that we can get tested? My family has never had a complication in conceiving a child.

Hi,

First of all, you need to diagnose if is it definitely a hernia. If it is, it is nothing related with family history. Most of the hernias are acquired, a very few are inherited. If the hernia is related closely to the testes then it is the condition where the hernia sac is up to the testes or the testes are not in scrotal sac. In long term cases, it will affect the sperm sterility. Otherwise, there is no need to worry. The last thing is that every hernia treatment is surgery. It is however curable.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhishek Khera, General Surgeon
