Hi my mother is 61 yo she is on a regimen of respirdal 2 mg /day benzotropine mesylate 2mg/day pimozide 4 mg/day carbamazepine 400mg/day she have high bp but after recently took hydrochlorothiazide 12.5/day and valsartan 160mg /day for two days and after eating salty food her foot is swollen and there is red rash without itching bit stiff so what should i do
Hello Your mother is 61 years and taking so many medicine for headache , high blood pressure , ,diuretics (hydrochorthiadize ), lipid lowering ( valsartan ). Now there is swelling on the dependent parts i.e. ankle . Because redness and itching also present ,so may be due to these reasons: 1 Insect bite . 2 Congestive heart failure , diagnosis can be confirmed by ECG , MRI . 3 Chronic renal failure , as she taking medicine for high blood pressure so may be due to kidneys involvement. In my opinion consult a CARDIOLOGIST and get his opinion as physical examination is important.
