General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Any other cause of hypertension should be ruled out.Primary hypertension is the major cause of raised blood pressure and the cause of it is usually unknown.

When a patient is not responding to BP drugs, any other cause of raised BP such as renal, vascular or endocrine causes should be ruled out. Renal function tests should be done.

I would recommend using another drug along with amlodipine or increasing the dose of the drug.

Diet modification and Mild physical activity will help in reducing the stress levels.Monitor blood pressure and rule out other causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
