Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...Hi I went to clinic yesterday and had blood sugar reading of 330. Yesterdy started meds 500mg of metformin 2x per day i tested blood sugar 9:30 pm the following day and blood sugar is 395 do i need to go to hospital
You may not need to go the hospital at the moment.
In addition to using the metformin, you need to modify your diet and activity. This means : (1) increasing your use of salads and vegetables (2)decrease the use of desserts , sweets, normal sodas (use low calorie sodas), fruit drinks (3)reduce carbohydrate portions (4)increase your physical activity aiming to get to at least 150 minutes a week
If , with these changes, your levels are still high then you may need an increase in your metformin. The maximum dose is 3 g a day. This should be done after speaking to your doctor.
I hope this helps
