Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello. I read your questions carefully.

In my experience, the liver enzymes should be raised three times above normal, in order to discontinue the statin. I would recommend you to consult your treating cardiologist to switch to another class of cholesterol-lowering agents (such as, bile acid binders, niacin). Although very rare, statins can cause dangerous complications such as rhabdomyolisis and myoglobinuria, let alone the elevation of liver enzymes, a complication found on 5-8% of people using them.

I hope I was helpful. Good day
