High cholesterol is a direct risk factor for coronary
artery disease and, therefore, cardiac events. Your
total cholesterol level is not too dramatic. However, your LDL fraction is high. Besides high cholesterol levels, I can see that you have a strong positive familial history of cardiac events.
There are diet and lifestyle changes that can help you lower the cholesterol, such as a diet rich in fibres (green leafy vegetables and fruit), rarely having red meat, but mostly chicken and fish, as well as a 40-60 minute everyday physical activity (going to the gym or a swimming pool, walking). Beside these measures, my opinion is that you should start on a cholesterol-lowering drug, such as
rosuvastatin (
Crestor) 10 mg x 1 tb/d. After a month, get your blood cholesterol and liver enzymes.
