Suggest Treatment For High Fever And Elevated WBC Levels
Hi my son is 4 years old..suffering from high fever . Dr told to take blood test his wbc is 19000 and crp is 76 . So he put him on antibiotic for 7 days ..but after 2 days there is no fever..he told to repeat the blood test after 7 days. He is alright now. Is possible becoz of fever the wbc and crp are elevated? Am so worried or anything serious problem..
Thank you for the query. From the history that you have provided, your 4 yrs old son was suffering from high fever, and his total counts and CRP were raised (19000/mm3 and 76 respectively). This implies a bacterial infection in the body. The source of the infection may be upper or lower respiratory tract, urinary tract etc. It would be difficult to point out as other symptoms like cough, cold or burning during urine or diarrhoea have not been mentioned. It seems that there is nothing to worry about right now, since after the antibiotic started he feels better. But it is anyways advisable to complete the entire course of antibiotic and repeat the tests after 1 week. There was a bacterial infection in the body, in response to which he had fever and his infection parameters (total counts and CRP) were raised.
Hope this helps you Regards Dr Ayusmati Thakur
