Suggest Treatment For High Fever In A Child

Hi my three year old daughter has had a fever aroudn38 since Sunday. A few times it as been down but it has mostly been up all week. Then 24 hours ago it was 40degrees. And has been since. Il gave her both calpol and ibrufen to bring it down before she not to bed last night. Last night when her fever www 40, she so planned of sore hands/fingers. She has had a bit of a cold but nothing much. She is complaining tonight of sore hands and her tummy is sore. W live in Uganda and I got s malaria test to do last night but I couldn t he get enough blood from her finger. It was v traumatic. I m going to take her to the doctors in 6 hours. Just ordering if I should be going to the A and E or I m okay to wit. She is resting and I ha give her some calpol.

Welcome to hcm,
As your child fever is almost from a week you have to get blood test to rule out malaria,any other infection. Get urine examination also done. Continue with paracetamol and you can consult your doctor at scheduled appointment only.
