Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been in extreme heat and humidity today. Temp around 125°, and very high humidity. Little exposure to sunlight, just heat, for about 9 hrs daily for weeks now. Today I came home, and had been in the air conditioning for a few hours when I suddenly got very cold, to the point of shivering and teeth chatter. Also, developed a fever of 102° I am hot to the touch (my face and body) but freezing cold. What do you think is going on here, Doc? Am I in danger?
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM High fever is a symptom that may be caused by many medical conditions with the most probable being an infection( Bacteria/viral).The origin of fever could be from any body system depending on the accompanying symptoms.Mild fever may be handled with antipyretics like paracetamol and observed to see the evolution before going for medical investigation. However, high fever poses a different problem.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination and a blood culture and sensitivity test as a course of antibiotics may be needed for you to recover.High fever at 125 degrees merits hospitalization or hospital observation with the initiation of IV anti-pyretics while waiting for the lab results for an etiologic management.I will advise you take enough fluids and rest well. Hope my answer will help you Wish you a speedy recovery
