Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have left hip and groin pain which started 3 months ago . 1 month ago started with pins and needles radiating down my buttocks and back of legs . Pelvic X ray was clear . mRI scan shows multilayer disc degeneration of L5 S1 in particular . Also degeneration of facet joints L5 S1 . No stenosis or nerve pinching. Why do I stil have hip and groin pain and pins and needles ?
* As per my clinical experience, it is the underlying neurologic impact of multi layer disc degeneration which is responsible for the hip and groin pain.
MY guidelines for better recovery
- local application of heating pad
- use of analgesic spray or ointment with Linseed oil, camphor, diclofenac , capsaicin
- analgesic with anti inflammatory medications as etoricoxib or naproxen after meals with antacids preferably
- supportive role of vitamin B 12 and multi vitamins, minerals help
- control of body weight and blood sugar, cholesterol
- avoid smoking and alcohol if consuming
- assisted physiotherapy
- adapting certain postural changes to avoid sudden spine banding and weight lifting.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
