Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
It took 2 years to finally determine that my right hip is severely degenerated with osteoarthritis. I m 51 today. Pain in the last 2 weeks is beyond control now and I m told I still need to wait another 8-10 months for hip replacement surgery. Piroxicam 20 mg was controlling the pain for the past 2 months, but now it s obviously not working. I take T3s when desperate but it upsets my stomach and is constipating. What else can I do for pain relief ?
weight reduction and exercises will help. Till you wait for Joint replacement option. Till time take analgesic and cartilage protecting medication like glucosamine sulphate. For hip arthritis joint flexion, extension and rotation exercises will help. Physiotherapist will help you better to learn more exercises in proper protocol. If required intra-articular injection can be given.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
