Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 48 year old female runner. I fell on Friday morning and landed on my hands and knees, all weekend I have had significant hip pain requiring ibuprofen. It feels like the pain is at the base of my pelvis deep in my buttocks. It is uncomfortable to sit and difficult to walk.
Though seems muscular however, it's better to get X-ray of hip joint as some times hairline fracture may result with such falls which may not cause significant walking deformities but pain may be severe. Orthopedic surgeon review can be helpful. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be continued. If pain is severe more potent analgesic like tramadol may be needed. Rest and physiotherapy afterwards may be helpful.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
