Suggest Treatment For Hives On The Arms And Itching On The Calves

Hi. I recently completed a patio resurfacing job using Quikrete resurfacing cement. I wore a mask and googles but did not wear a long sleeve shirt. I suffered burns on my right forearm and right bicep. I treated it with soap and water and then used Neosporin and aloe vera over a period of a few days. The arm has scabbed and peeled and is healing. However, i now have hives on both arms and my entire upper chest and have itching in my calfs and knees. I am currently uninsured until Oct 1 and need advice, please.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The hives and itching indicate that you are having an allergic reaction. It may be related the products used on the skin or due to contact with another allergen.

It is not likely due to the cement since the reaction seems to have occurred quite a few days later. If this not the case and the contact was within the last 3 days , then it may be a cause.

You can use oral antihistamines such as benadryl, loratidine, cetrizine, allegra

If there is no improvement, oral steroids may be needed.

I hope this helps
