Suggest Treatment For Hole In Ear Drum Of An Elderly Person
My mother is 60 years old, her left ear was damaged inher childhood and she is unable to hear from it.But now it has been observed hole in right ear drum due to which she is unable to hear properly. I showed to doctor he told let it be as we cannot operate in this age, we will provide audiometry machine to her,, is there any option to solve the issue of hole in ear drum,,,
As per your query your mother is unable to hear properly due to childhood injury ,which create hole in her ear . Well there can be many treatment options for ear drum rupture like patching , Patching involves placing a medicated paper patch over the tear in the membrane. The patch encourages the membrane to grow back together , a surgical repair of a perforated eardrumwhich is known as tympanoplasty . But in this stage of age healing after surgery become slow and difficulty and there are always a chances of infection due to low immunity . But your should take opinion of more then one ENT specialist . Till then use hearing aid .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
