87 year old male –recently diagnosed with dysphasia - on mechanical solids and nectar thick liquid – actively using chin tuck positioning. .Dysphasia caused by weak swallowing muscle and hooked epiglottis. Now performing exercises that speech therapist gave to improve muscle strength, also had 2 vital stim treatments – a few more planned?
Is there any treatment options to correct hooked epiglottis?
Hi Sir, hooked or hooded epiglottis does not require any treatment. because there is no medical management as such. Surgical management for Vocal box is available at the age of 83 only chin tuck May be the manoeuvre may be helpful. Take care.
