Suggest Treatment For Hot Flashes In Elderly Woman
My age 69, had a partial hysterectomy at 25, left the ovaries. Have had severe hot flashes since age 41, took huge amounts of premarin for over 20 years now doctor won t give me more. What can I do, the hot flashes are so severe. Should I see a doctor of endocrinology ?

1) Hot flash is quite common post-menopausal symptom. Vaginal estradiol cream is commonly used. Alternatively, PHYTOESTROGEN can be used.
Several studies shows that phytoestrogens (plant estrogen) like isoflavones is quite effective to treat post-menopausal symptoms and has protective mechanism against breast or endometrial carcinoma, by reducing endogenous estrogen level. You can take soy, beans, peas, lentils, whole grains, rye, millet etc which contain plant estrogen. Drink more water along with it.
2) Tibolone (synthetic drug) is also used to treat vasomotor symptoms (like Hot flashes etc). It can be given with or without estrogen supplement.
