Suggest Treatment For Hyperactive Disorder In A Child
my 6 year old daughter has been tested at school and is being labeled as aggressive and hyper active boarding on mental retardation. We are totally thrown by this. She does struggle to focus and laughs a lot even when she is in trouble or hurt. Can you suggest what I should be researching to help her?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Her symptoms like aggressive behaviour at schools, hyperactive behaviour, poor focus and laughing a lot need proper evaluation. These could point towards some hyperactive disorder or mental retardation. In my opinion on basis of the query you have asked she has symptoms of ADD or attention deficit disorder though detailed evaluation is needed. I would advise you to take her to a psychiatrist for making proper diagnosis. Don't be distressed and ADD can be controlled with proper medicines. Medicines like Attenterol, Amphetamines and some times low dose antipsychotics are used in ADD and help to control abnormal hyperactive behaviour and improve the focus. Please consult a psychiatrist for treatment.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
