Hi dr i am frm india my mother is of age 60 fuc hypertension and depression she is having blakish spots under her foot soles commonly in the fingers she feels burning sensesion in it and also feels some like some insect crawling. The skin chrips and bleeds in winter isent its photo graph of it to a dr he said it is peripheral neuropathy but she is not having diabetes med she takes is metoplol succinate 50 mg daily she has also having diastolic dysf heart and austeopyrisis plz help so that proper medication should be given
The Metoprolol succinate 50 mg is best medicine working as beta blocker to control the high blood pressure as well as diastolic dysfunction of the heart. As the BP readings are not mentioned here, it is the range above 160 over 100 which requires changes in current drug dosage of the same medicine, otherwise not. The depression is wide subject, needs to be assessed by expert psychiatrist for the best control.
However, cognitive behavior therapy helps in many of the cases, some do require support with anti depressant as - Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (Fluoxetine, Sertaline, Escitalopram or others) - Serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (bupropion) - MAO inhibitors (Phenelenzine) - Others as Vortioxepine and others
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
