Hi, I m Niv an India living in Australia. I feel hungry all the time but i don t like to eat anything. Sugar is horrible, spice i can handle but the regular indian spices have become my enemy. I used to like them very much. It just makes me sick now. Anything I eat makes me feel sick or in other words i don t like it. I can t stop my hunger but at the same time I don t want to eat anything. Sometimes I force myself to eat but i feel hungry just after half an hour. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, vitamin b- 12 deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency. Should i go see a doctor? Please advise. Thank You
Hello and welcome to HCM, The vitamin B 12 and vitamin D deficiencies are managed by supplements of vitamin B 12 and vitamin D. Vitamin D can be taken in the form of liquid prepration, tablet form or powder form weekly for two months. Thereafter the vitamin D levels need to be checked. If vitamin D levels are within normal range, maintainence therapy once or twice a month need to be taken. Vitamin B 12 can be taken in the form of injectables or in the form of oral capsule. I suggest you to consult your physician for prescription of the vitamins. Hypothyroidism needs to be managed by thyroid replacement with thyroxine. I suggest you to consult your physician for prescription of thyroid replacement with thyroxine. The thyroid function tests need to be monitored regularly after starting the therapy.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
