Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism During Pregnancy
Hi I m 28 yrs old .. I m pregnant 1month n 15 days .. thyroid is found in my body .it s 7.45 ths. I m worried abt it. will it hurt my baby ? Dr said that my baby s growth is not so good. Whatever I m eatting it is going out by stood as soon as I eat. Dr asked me to take nidagen 200 at night and early morning. I need advice what should I do or don t which help my baby to grow properly.
The lab test (TSH) of 7.45 is suggestive of hypothyroidism. If untreated it may increase the risk of miscarriage, preterm birth (prematurity) and may cause cognitive impairment (mental retardation) in the baby. Your doctor will prescribe levothyroxine to achieve a target of TSH less than 2.5 mIU/L. Dose adjustments will be made on the basis of TSH levels 4-6 weeks after any dosage change.
Continue taking levothyroxine through the pregnancy regularly preferably on an empty stomach early in the morning. Food or other medications can be taken after 1-2 hours thereafter. Nidagen 200 contains hormone progesterone which is prescribed to support the pregnancy and to prevent miscarriage. Have regular antenatal checkup, take iron and folic acid supplementation as prescribed, take healthy nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
