Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism

Hi, I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto s Thyroiditis. I have had a very enlarged thyroid for over 30 years, thus have been testing it yearly. My TSH, T3 & T4 have always been low-normal. I have had symptoms of hypothyroidism for at least 20 of these years, but my provider believes that since my tests have been within the normal range, I didn t need medication treatment. I believe though my tests were normal , these numbers are not normal for me. Would it benefit me to try a trial of thyroid meds to see if it helps me?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an endocrinologist and get evaluated. It is always better to start thyroxine at a low dose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
