Hello!!! I wanted to know whether Ichthyosis vulgaris disease is really curable or not. I have seen a documentary in Discovery channel and they were showing about a guy whose skin was fish scale skin. And they did that treatment and cured it. Is it possible to get that treatment here in India? I am staying in odisha. I need a good Dr to consult wit
There are multiple types of icthyosis. The condition icthyosis vulgaris, you are suffering from ( as mentioned) is a genetic disease. There are smaller scales in it and the condition improves in summer. There is dryness of palms and soles with thickening of skin. You need to apply only emollients like white soft paraffin, white petroleum jelly etc. The treatment you mentioned is used for other severe forms of icthyosis. For milder variant like icthyosis vulgaris emollient may suffice. Kindly discuss your symptoms in details for a better response related to treatment modalities best for you. Each variant is different.
