Brief answer: ORAL
SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS..
Hi..
Can understand your concern..
As per your complain you are suffering from ORAL SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS (OSMF) which is characterized by formation of thick fibrous bands in the cheeks and in advanced cases in the lips as well as soft palate leading to difficulty in opening the mouth causing reduced mouth opening..
Along with it there is also atrophy or thinning of the
oral mucosa leading to burning ,ulceration and burning sensation on taking even even little spices..
This is due to tobacco and betel nut chewing..
As you have two finger mouth opening left you can still maintain it by withdrawing from
tobacco chewing habit as TOBACCO CHEWING IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH AND CAN LEAD TO MOUTH CANCER..
First thing that you can do is to completely stop the consumption of tobacco, betel nut.
You can apply
steroid based gels like
KENACORT GEL for relief..
Application of Hyluronidase containing
ointments aNd gels can help in breaking the fibres..
Oral intake of antioxidant capsule one daily like
LYCOPENE can be helpful..
Intra lesional (within the lesion) steroid injections can be injected directly into the lesions and can provide relief..
Hyluronidase can also be added to the injection..
Mouth opening exercises like trying to open the mouth as much as possible under limits of pain toleration can be helpful..
Blowing the cheeks with air and retaining it for few seconds can be done..
Trying to take the tongue out completely is another exercise..
There can be some improvement seen by all these but complete recovery is not possible..
In case of excessively reduced opening surgical breakage of the fibres is done but a side effect of surgery is that scar formation can lead to further reduction in mouth opening..
Consult an ORAL SURGEON and get treated..
Hope your query is solved..
