Suggest Treatment For Incontinence And Bowel Problems
I have a Vertebrae fracture 2lumbar location. Dr. Wanted me to get brace but it did not work for me. He wants to see on beginning of January to see if I have healed. If not, he wants to cement it. I have had 2 spine surges, serious incontince and am losing some bowel matter as well. I have a morphine pump installed for my back. What concerns me is that he is my pain doctor. Is he qualified to touch my back. I certainly do not Want any more problems with my back. Also had one knee replacement and need one for other knee. No one seems as concerned as me and I am not getting questions answered. I hope u can help. Thank u. Lee

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi, thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM!
Well, If I were your treating Doctor for this case of complicated L2 fracture, I would like to tell you that these are all pressure effects on the spinal cord; due to pressure on the nerves related to bowel/bladder, the urine/stool incontinence occurs! This is a common phenomenon and potentially treatable; no doubt about this!
All you need is stabilization and rest of your lumbar spine; might need plaster...
Brain /spinal surgeons and orthopedic surgeons do this work together, generally!
Therefore, don't lose hope; this will heal with treatment in the course of time!
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
