Suggest Treatment For Increased Nerve Pain

I have a broken rod right side L4-S1. The only problem I am having at present is an increase nerve pain in right foot now moving up to lower leg. My question is is this a medical emergency that I have the rod and screws removed or can it wait a month. If waiting how much damage or increase in nerve damage could one do.

Hi,

thank you for providing the brief history of you.

A thorough neuromuscular assessment is advised.

As you mentioned you have broken rod on right side I will advice you to visit the surgeon as since the symptoms of neuropathic pain has begun. If your surgeon can say to wait post taking an X-ray then it is fine, but just by understanding the importance of the surgery part, i will advice to not take the smallest thing so easily. It might be possible that the plate, screws, rods may have fractured the bone too, which may later cause more damage.

Removal of it is advised if such case has occured. Till you meet your surgeon kindly dont walk or move around, no exercise nothing, etc.

Also, on a safer note i request you to meet the surgeon.
