Suggest Treatment For Infected Incision Site On Leg Post Bypass Surgery
my husband had open heart surgery 3 weeks ago - he had five bypasses. Veins were taken from his legs and just yesterday the inscission on a portion of one leg seems infected. There is puss and redness around the inscission. We used peroxide to clean the sore and once applied the solution bubbled. Then we applied polysporin. What else should we do. We will contact the family dr tomorrow morning.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems that there is infection at the site of Incision and there as there is Pus discharge it clearly signifies infection.. I would suggest you to clean the area with an antiseptic solution like Betadine and apply gentle pressure to release pus as much possible as it will help in faster healing.. Apply a combination of TRIPLE Antibiotic Ointment over it.. Avoid water exposure to the area.. Maintain cleanliness of the area to prevent spread of infection.. The Physician can also advise a course of Oral antibiotics in case if infection is severe..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
