Suggest Treatment For Infection Around Navel Piercing

I got my belly button pierced about 4 months ago and it was healing fine until a few days ago at work when I ripped the bottom a little bit it was about 4 days ago I think it s gotten infected in that time even though I cleaned it well and put a bandaid over it most of the day . But today i ripped it again. I was changing band aids after a shower and I went to do something and got it caught again. I almost passed out this time. I couldn t move so I just took it out. And there s this long white pinky colored skin hanging out like the tissue u see when u get a gash on your knee I m so afraid to touch it bc my belly button hurts so much but I didn t clean it with my special antibacterial soap and salt water solution. Can u please help me in onto the path of what I should do next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to an infected piercing.
I suggest:
-dont remove the jewelry, especially if you are experiencing drainage.
-Wash your hand with antibacterial soap before you proceed to clean your piercing.
-Clean the piercing with a saline solution or a salt water mixture (1 tsp. of sea salt and 5 oz.
-Consider using an antiseptic cream for local application.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
