Suggest Treatment For Infection From Thorn Prick

My 11 year old son had a thorn stuck in the top part of his foot (for over a week & didn t tell us). We got the thorn out & the area is red and swollen (nickel size in diameter). Some puss came out with pressure. What is the best way to clean/doctor this area. He is in some pain & is allergic to neosporin.

Hi,
If this prick us nickel sized and causing pus as stated by you then he will require oral antibiotics
( cephalosporins preferred) in half dose than adult.
Also there is need of cleaning this wound with Normal saline and savlon or dettol Solution.
After this, make a dressing with soframycin cream if allergic to neosporin for 3 days at least.
Take injection T.T. if not taken previously.
Consult nearest doctor and do treatment.
Thanks
