Welcome to HCM I have read and understood your query I appreciate your health concern Sugical open wound take time to heal as compared to normal wound.it may take weeks to month depending upon the situation of the wound and extent of the infection. Dont worry, you just need to take good care of the wound. get it dressed on regular basis as your surgeon has advised you.they will clean it and pack it with saline soaked bandages that will help absorb all the pus, debride it if there is any slough, once it is infection free, they will stitch it back. If you are diabetic, take good control of your sugar levels.Rest you just need to see your surgeon as advised. Hope this will help you Stay healthy Regards Dr Faeza
