Suggest Treatment For Inflammation And Soreness Of Gums Prior To Crown Cementation?
I had 4 crown preps done on my upper front teeth last week. I see the dentist in 8 days to get the crowns. Meanwhile the gum behind my teeth right up next to and between the teeth, is inflamed and extremely sore. Of course I always bump it with the bristle of my tooth brush and the pain is absolutely unbelievable. Do I need to go back to the dentist? Is this normal. I feel like someone has taken an exact o knife to my gums around my upper front teeth.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain if your gums have got inflamed after crown preparation for retaining the crowns there is a possibility that the cutting instrument has caused laceration to the gums leading to injury and inflammation.. You need not to worry and it will subside gradually.. For pain and discomfort apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine for relief.. Maintain a good oral hygiene and use an ultra soft tooth brush for brushing your teeth..
In case if still it does not subside then you should consult your dentist for ruling out infection in the gums in that area..
Understanding your concern. As per your query inflammation and soreness of gums prior to crown cementaion is because of re-infection leading to formation of pus below the root tips of the tooth and at times the infection leads to perforation of bone and appears below the gums and it causes extreme pain. As you keeps on getting tooth brush injury so it is exaggerating your condition. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get it examined and get an x ray done. Take combination of Ibuprofen and Diclofenac. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Use supersoft bristle brush. Use antiseptic mouthwash such as Listerine.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
