Suggest Treatment For Ingrown Hair On The Chin

I have a bump on chin that presented like ingrown hair. When I squeezed it a very long (1 ) string of waxy discharge came out. did not appear to be like a regular pimple or ingrown hair. Have had it for about three weeks. I have squeezed it twice with the same result. Have tried neosporin ,desonide and astringents, It sounds like an epidermoid or sebacous cyst?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, ingrown hair with discharge of waxy material indicate more likely of sebaceous cyst through infection or blockage of sweat gland.

In majority of the cases, it requires a minor OPD based surgery of excision under local anesthesia after diagnostic confirmation by consultant surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
