Hi dear,
Thanks for choosing HCM.
The results of the scan is suggesting presence of a thyroid nodule/mass that arises from isthmus(the centre of the thyroid) and continues with the right lobe (thyroid is a bird like shape that has right and left lobes), and it's extending down toward the chest area (retrosternal extension)..
Based on this finding it's best for you to go to
Endocrinologist as soon as you can, so that the doctor can run the necessary test to rule out possibility of
thyroid cancer.
Most Thyroid nodules are not cancerous but some can be that's why you should check immediately.
The doctor will check history and run
blood test to check your TSH,T3 and T4 levels (to check how well is thyroid functioning) .
The Doctor should do a test known as (FNA) Fine-
needle aspiration biopsy whereby a needle is inserted to the location of the mass in the thyroid and small peace removed to check if the cells of the mass are benign (not cancerous ) or malignant (cancerous).
Based on the results you will be given the appropriate treatment.
If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask .
Wish you all the best.
