Suggest Treatment For Insomnia In A Diabetic

Trouble falling asleep n sometimes staying asleep. Reactine helps me sleep. Sometimes I Take 1/2 tablet of sleeping pill (zopiclone) but don t want to depend on that. Never had trouble before but retired 3 years ago. Wondering if I m not tired enough. Or a thyroid problem or something else. I am now 70 years old and look like 50 as people tell me and I still feel younger. I am an American Indian native and have diabetes and only on metformin and I have changed my diet to control diabetes better and have lost 55 lbs over years and 30 lbs within the last 3-4 years. Now if I can get a good nights sleep, it would be wonderful. What s your opinion ?

Thanx for asking mhc. Its very common in the age of 70 and you become more susceptible if diabetes is presnt in past medical history.
I prescribe some sleep inducing drugs at the last moment. I would suggest you to leave bed before sunrise, go for a moderate walk or yoga. Avoid sleep during daytime.
Also consult a psychiatrist just to rule out possibility of old age sleeplessness.
