Suggest Treatment For Insomnia

I have been taking a 50mg unisom with some success for a few years to help me get sleepy and allow me to stay asleep through the night. I am trying to take the 1mg melatonin for the same purposes. If I find I am not able to get sleepy or unable to stay asleep would it be wise to increase the melatonin to 2mg each night?

Usually my patients don't get much effect from melatonin until the dose reaches or surpasses 6 mg. or more per night. You should also get a medical or physical examination to rule out organic problems to your insomnia. Please rate this response with STARS and leave some brief written feedback.
