Suggest Treatment For Insomnia

My son had a mountain bike accident in April. He severely injured his leg below his knee and had knee surgery in May. He is just now returned to work and is up on crutches. He is suffering from insomnia. He is exhausted, but cannot fall asleep at night. He has expressed some anger and irritability towards his family. What can he do? He has tried relaxation techniques, lavender oil, green tea, Benadryl, etc. Nothing has worked so far. I am very concerned for his mental and physical health.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Consultation of a psychiatrist to help him get rid of the depression. Sittings with psychotherapist to give him positive approach & help of yoga would gradually help him out.

This should accompany a nutritive diet, physiotherapy & vitamin supplements in consultation with a physician.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
