Suggest Treatment For Insomnia

hi. my name is retonia, which means rejoice and be happy. but i haven t been very happy lately because i ve been dealing with insomnia/anxiety and the dr. prescribed zanax, which i ve been taking for nearly three weeks--sometimes a whole pill and sometimes a half. a few nights i ve been able to fall asleep on my own but wake up after about 3-4 hours. what caused my problem? maybe the online book business i had when this condition came about. what worsened it was worrying during the day about whether i would sleep that night; i m past that now. just looking for answers. i m 5 4, weigh 137 pounds, walk twice a day and do weights at night, on a healthy diet which includes lots of greens, nuts, and fruit, not a diabetic and no hbp. can you help?

Hi,

Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods which can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines. You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active. It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week and to try to avoid taking naps during the day. Prescription sleep medicines may also help and include diazepam and similar medications. Melatonin is a supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases, special testing is needed.
