Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a lumbar puncture yesterday because my neurologist thought I had inter-cranial hypertension. It turns out the spinal fluid is extremely low instead. A day after the procedeure I feel very sick to my stomach and have a very bad headache in the back of my head and pain in my back. Is this normal?
Up to 25 percent of people who have undergone a lumbar puncture develop a headache afterward due to a leak of fluid into nearby tissues. This pain may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. So the symptoms developed are normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Christy J Thundiparambil, Ayurveda Specialist
